In Loving Memory of David Charles Hicks

David Charles Hicks, aged 80, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2025, at the Maritime Oddfellows Home in Pictou, Nova Scotia.

Born in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, David was the son of William (Bill) and Agnes Hicks. He graduated from New Glasgow High School and earned a degree in accounting from Saint Mary’s University in Halifax. David built a respected career as a Certified General Accountant, ultimately becoming a federally certified CGA for the Government of Nova Scotia. His dedication, professionalism, and quiet integrity left a lasting impression on all who worked with him.

David is lovingly remembered by his wife, Karen Hicks (née Millen); his daughters, Stephanie Tobin (Scott) and Leah Willett (Thomas); and his cherished grandchildren: Nova and Sol Tobin, Josie and Sam Willett. He is also survived by his sister, Judy Wheelock (John) of Truro, Nova Scotia.

To his grandchildren, David was affectionately known as “Umpa” – a name that captured his humour and unconditional love. He will be remembered for his devotion to his family and the steady kindness he offered to those around him. David’s Christian faith was a deep but constant source of strength and guidance throughout his adult life, shaping the values he lived by and the love he shared.

David’s family wish to convey deep gratitude to the loving staff at the Maritime Oddfellows Home and all the family and friends who helped to care for David and Karen over the last two years.

Memorial donations may be made to the Parkinson Society of Canada, Diabetes Canada or to the Maritime Oddfellows Home.

A celebration of life will be held at Eagles Funeral Home in Westville on November 14, 2025 from 11am to 1pm to honour and celebrate David’s life.
