Nicole Miners passed away at the age of 79 after a short illness at the Thunder Bay Regional Hospital on August 4th, 2026. Born in Ste. Georges de Beauce Quebec, Nicole relocated to Port Arthur in 1969. She dedicated many years to working with the federal government in the Secretary of State office in Thunder Bay. After retiring, she enjoyed her favorite spot, Mountain Bay, where she lived for the last 26 years and spent many winters in Naples Florida. The beaches in both locations were special to her, as she found happiness and calmness listening to the waves on the shore.
Nicole is survived by her husband of 56 years, Jim Miners; her two sons, Daniel (Brittan) and Derek (Megan); and her grandchildren Aurora, Conner, Caeden, Madison and Eli.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Armandine and Dominique Fortin, along with her brother Marc-Yvan Fortin.
Instead of a funeral service, the family will hold a private gathering at Mountain Bay. Arrangements are handled by Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel, located at 21 N. Court Street.
