With heavy hearts, we share that Mom passed away in the early hours of Saturday, August 22, 2026, at the age of 94, after a long battle with dementia.
She was born in Guelph, Ontario and was the youngest of five siblings. She is predeceased by her parents, Beth and George Hurley, as well as three sisters: Anita Mc Arthur, Isobel O’Rourke, Bette Roe, and her brother Bill Hurley. Although she spent her entire adult life in Sault Ste. Marie, she always missed Guelph and often visited to see family and friends.
A loving wife to the late Orland Mc Crea and devoted mother to the late Robert “Bob” Mc Crea (Nancy), Debbie Krohn (late Paul), Ruth Zanatta (Brian) and Betty Reed (late Rob). She took great pride in being Grandma to Chris, Craig (Kristin), Mark (Allison), Ryan (Katie), Krista (Chris), Scott (Jess) as well as the late Jennifer and Robert. Caring Great-Grandma to Kennedy, Riley, Tyler, Norah, Paisley, Levi, Alaina, Chase and the late Hayden. She will be fondly remembered as a special Aunt by many nieces and nephews.
Mom and Dad worked hard; they built our family home first and then a camp on Mc Carrell’s Lake where we enjoyed summers together. Mom stayed home for many years before working at the Group Health Centre. After retiring, she loved bowling, golfing, playing cards with friends, volunteering her time and was always excited for bingo nights.
