In Loving Memory of Matthew Keogh

December 22, 1966 – April 11, 2025

Beloved Husband, Father, Brother, Uncle, and Friend

It is with great sadness that we share the news of Matthew Keogh’s passing. He was a dedicated husband and best friend to Trish, a proud father to Aisling and Liam, and a dear brother to Laurence and Tina. Matthew was also a loving brother-in-law to Kathryn (Sheldon), Sarah (Tom), Victoria (David), Alex, and Darren. He took joy in being an uncle to Madeleine (Jake), Tara (Adam), Amelia, Elise, Alice, and a great-uncle to Charlie. He was the son of the late John and Mary and son-in-law to Richard and Barbara. His dog Toby misses him deeply as well.

Matthew was born in Peterborough, England but moved to Dublin in 1970 when his father John accepted a new job. He attended Saint Michael’s College where he played rugby and earned several academic awards. His artistic talent shone through in his intricate paintings and drawings often focused on military themes. He had a fondness for toy soldiers and Action Men! Afterward, he studied business followed by accountancy at University College Dublin.

In 1992, Matthew left Ireland for Canada on what was meant to be a two-year work exchange with Coopers & Lybrand. Upon arriving in British Columbia, he traveled east to Toronto via Greyhound bus for an adventure across Canada. It was during this journey that he met Trish in October of that year-after which his return home became uncertain. While he always took pride in his Irish roots, he also embraced Canadian sports and outdoor activities with open arms. From weekend canoe trips in Northern Ontario with friends to learning how to play hockey or ski, he loved staying active outdoors.

Together with Trish, they raised their two amazing children in Oakville. Matthew always beamed with pride for Aisling and Liam while making time for everything they did together. Whether it involved skiing or reading or attending dance shows or coaching soccer teams-he was always right there cheering them on without fail.

A lifelong supporter of Arsenal Football Club, Matthew’s enthusiasm never faded over the years. He could recall minute details from past games while enjoying each match-his passionate cheers often echoed throughout the house during weekend mornings filled with excitement! His commitment showed through his collection of jerseys, programs, books about football along with eager conversations around players or Premier League standings-he’d remember which club even new acquaintances supported!

Matthew had an appreciation for music as well as movies and art forms alike-he enjoyed sampling local craft beers paired perfectly alongside dark chocolate treats! An accomplished baker who found solace tending plants through gardening pursuits; plus an enthusiastic runner looking out for new challenges made life enjoyable!

Professionally speaking; Matthew worked as a Professional Accountant across Ireland; Canada; USA gaining experience from various companies throughout those years giving each role his utmost dedication while earning respect among colleagues many whom admired him enough seeking guidance towards reaching their potentials too! The impact made through hard work ethics coupled together integrity shown kindness truly resonates within everyone fortunate enough having known him personally.

The love shared lives on carrying forward memories formed together showcasing dedication woven into every moment lived fully here amidst family members friends-all whose lives were touched profoundly shall miss him dearly.

If you’d like please consider donating in memory of Matthew towards UNICEF; Canadian Mental Health Association; or Mental Health Ireland.
