It is with deep sadness that we share the news of Miss Lillian Elizabeth Currie’s passing at the age of 61, which occurred peacefully at her home on Thursday, August 13, 2026.
Lillian was born in Fort William, Ontario on November 3, 1964. Sadly, she experienced a serious brain injury when she was very young and eventually required more assistance than her family could provide.
Lillian resided in a group home in Westfort, where she was cared for and enjoyed many outings. She had a love for music and liked to do crafts and paint. Lillian also loved dressing up in her favorite outfits, often paired with one of her many special scarves.
She was preceded in death by her caring parents, Ella (née Valimaa) and Robert Currie; Aunt Janis Sheffield; cousin Jolyne Currie; along with her grandparents.
Lillian is survived by her brothers Bill (Jennifer) and Kyle (Judy); niece and nephews Adam, Hailey and Brandon; cousin Lisa Sheffield as well as extended family members.
Our family would like to express gratitude to the many doctors, nurses and caregivers who provided care, kindness and support to Lillian over the years.
Cremation has taken place. A private burial will be held at Stanley Hill Cemetery where Lillian will be laid to rest beside her parents. In lieu of flowers, donations made to Options Northwest would be greatly appreciated.
