Jane Maepea was born on January 19, 1949. She left us unexpectedly at home on June 5, 2026, due to health issues.

After finishing high school, she went to King’s Business College where she got her bookkeeping diploma. She married Peter Maepea, and together they created a wonderful life. Jane worked at Maepea Cresting with Peter until the business closed, then she became a healthcare aide. Her friendly and caring nature made her well-liked by her clients.

Jane and Peter loved gardening together, and she continued this passion after his passing. They enjoyed traveling to the US and camping at Trowbridge Falls Campground. Her pets were very dear to her; especially Ellie the cat along with her canaries and finches. Friends appreciated her kindness, generosity, and readiness to lend a hand whenever needed.

She was preceded in death by her husband Peter, sisters Karin, Ella, Trudi, brother Paul Gilders, adoptive parents Bernice and Bruno Maki, sister-in-law Sandy Stafford-Maepea and brother-in-law Mark Maepea. Surviving family includes sister Barb Lennstrom (Clarence), brother-in-law Hannes Maepea, sister-in-law Marie Kraus (Toivo), sister-in-law Loretta Maepea along with many nieces and nephews.

Jane always valued what others did for her. Special thanks go out to friends Beatrice, Suzanne, Mary Ann, Hannes, Delores and Jane who supported her during that last week. A heartfelt thank you also goes to Dr Noys and all the VON workers who visited regularly.

A celebration of life will be organized at a later date. Donations can be made to the Humane Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society or any charity you prefer.

Condolences may be sent through www. nwfainc. com
