Doris passed away peacefully at F. J. Davey Home on Thursday, July 30, 2026, just shy of her 100th birthday after celebrating her 99th on July 16th.
She is now reunited with her beloved husband, Robert “Bob” Fraser. Doris was a caring mother to Lynne Dyment (late Douglas), Susan Infanti (late Terrance), Cathie Rasmussen (Ken), Nancy Adams (Philip), David (Beverly), Mary Mc Rae (Douglas), Dan (Lee) and Barbara Kent (John). She took great pride in being a grandmother to 27, a great-grandmother to 81, and a great-great-grandmother to 17.
Doris was the cherished daughter of the late Heber and Esther Elliott. She was predeceased by her siblings Ira Marr (George), Lee Tyios (John), Marjorie Elves (Ernie), and her infant brother Arnold Elliott. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends will miss Doris dearly.
Born in Hamilton, Ontario, she later moved North with her husband and family to St. Joseph Island. Doris had a love for music-whether it was singing or directing music at church or home. She wore many hats as a proud wife, mother, grandmother, farmer, saleswoman, librarian at the St. Joseph Township Library among other roles. Volunteering brought her joy; she contributed time at Church events, schools, food banks, Red Cross initiatives, Trefry Centre and more. Keeping busy with various needlework projects and playing games like Scrabble and jigsaw puzzles were among her favorite pastimes.

Family and friends are invited to visit the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (126 Caledon Street) on Saturday, August 8, 2026 from 11:00 a. m. until the service begins at 1:00 p. m., officiated by President Fraser Adams. Doris will be laid to rest alongside Bob at Maple Grove Cemetery on St. Joseph Island. Memorial contributions can be made via cheque or online to F. J.
