Armande (Amanda) L. Lizotte, aged 86, of Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2026 at Argyll hospital with her family by her side. Born in Quebec on September 4, 1939 to the late Adelard and Marie-Reine (Darveau) Lizotte, she was the first of nine siblings. She was preceded in death by her brother Oscar Lizotte.
Amanda was a strong and principled woman who always wanted the best for her family. In 1968, she courageously moved to the United States with her husband Gilles Ratte and their four daughters. For many years, she worked in the historic Millyard of Manchester, NH, showcasing her exceptional sewing skills. Later on, she became a respected seamstress at a local bridal shop named Chalifour’s, where people affectionately called her “the little french seamstress.”
Her creativity truly set Amanda apart. From making unique outfits for each of her kids during the holidays to crafting custom costumes and home decor like curtains and pillows, her artistic touch made life brighter for everyone around her. She took immense pride in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and loved hearing all about their experiences and adventures. Entertaining guests brought her joy too; she was always up for some laughter.
Amanda leaves behind her loving children: Sylvie St. Hilaire and husband Gary from Mechanicsburg, PA; Josie Gooch from Marysville, PA; Chantal Plante and husband Jacques from Bedford, NH; Martine Cloutier and husband Mike from Bedford, NH. She is also survived by her 13 grandchildren: Amanda St. Hilaire, Reverend Andrew St. Hilaire, Michael St. Hilaire, Patrick St. Hilaire, Thomas St. Hilaire, Paul St. Hilaire, Wesley Gooch, Kara Gooch, Heidi Gooch, Victor Plante, Jack Plante, Alyssa Cloutier and Jessica Cloutier along with great-grandchildren Olivette , Sophie , Noah , and Lewis. Additionally , she is survived by seven loving siblings: Noella Lizotte , Andre Lizotte , Janette Lizotte , Cecile Lizotte , Madeline Lizotte , Lucille Lizotte , and Carol Lizotte.
