Brooke Shields, left, and Amalia Williamson enjoy their time exploring the GTA.

Hollywood star Brooke Shields has been enjoying her time in Ontario, taking the opportunity to explore the province during her filming breaks while sharing her adventures with millions of social media followers.

Her latest trip took her to Oakville’s historic 5 Drive-In, where the 61-year-old actress had a movie night with her Canadian co-star Amalia Williamson.

Shields shared a video from their outing, giving fans a peek at the pair indulging in some classic entertainment while taking a breather from filming the second season of the mystery series You’re Killing Me.

The video captures the actresses arriving at the drive-in, figuring out how to tune their car radio to catch the movie’s audio and settling down with snacks for the screening of You Can See Everything.

“We are at a drive-in!” Shields excitedly tells viewers, highlighting the fun of an outdoor movie experience.

This visit to Oakville is just one stop among many in Ontario for Shields, who has been spotted exploring various communities while working in the area. Her travels have included trips to Niagara Falls, Orangeville, Unionville and St. Catharines, where she also checked out local restaurants and attractions.

For those who grew up watching TV shows and movies in the 1980s and 1990s, Shields is one of entertainment’s most recognizable faces. But her fame goes beyond just her roles in films.

Born in New York City in 1965, Shields began modelling when she was less than a year old, appearing in a soap captured by famed fashion photographer Francesco Scavullo.

She became an international sensation as a teenager after gaining widespread recognition for her role in director Louis Malle’s 1978 film Pretty Baby. The controversial film featured Shields as a young girl living in a New Orleans brothel and sparked significant debate about how young performers were treated and sexualized.

Two years later, she starred in The Blue Lagoon, which became one of early 1980s cinema’s defining films. She also appeared in Endless Love in 1981, further solidifying her status as a leading Hollywood star.

But it wasn’t just acting that brought Shields fame. At 14 years old, she became the youngest model ever on Vogue magazine’s cover; by age 15 she was part of one of advertising’s most talked-about campaigns of that decade.

The Calvin Klein jeans commercials from 1980 included the iconic line: “You want to know what comes between me and my Calvins? Nothing,” which stirred controversy due to her age and suggestive nature of the ads. Nevertheless, this campaign marked an important moment in fashion advertising history and helped make Shields widely recognized.

Later on, she attended Princeton University where she graduated in 1987 with a degree in French literature. She then transitioned into television starring in NBC’s sitcom Suddenly Susan from 1996 until 2000. This role earned her two Golden Globe nominations.

Shields has also performed on Broadway and authored books while being an outspoken advocate for women’s issues-especially after sharing her struggles with postpartum depression publicly. Her openness about topics that were once seldom discussed raised awareness around them significantly.

This year she revisited her remarkable childhood along with decades spent under public scrutiny through the documentary Pretty Baby: Brooke Shields. The two-part feature explored her rise to fame amidst challenges growing up within showbiz and how media represented and treated her throughout those years.

Now she’s back on screen for You’re Killing Me-a murder-mystery series on Acorn TV alongside Williamson and fellow Canadian actor Tom Cavanagh. The show was renewed earlier this year following its successful debut season.

This recent adventure brought her back to an establishment that’s entertained moviegoers across generations-the 5 Drive-In located on Ninth Line-which opened its doors back in 1964. It has since expanded into three-screen outdoor theater accommodating roughly 1,100 vehicles at once.

For both Shields and Williamson it was simply an enjoyable nostalgic night out; meanwhile for this drive-in theater it meant receiving an unexpected visit from one of Hollywood’s most well-known stars!
