Toronto Police have taken a 29-year-old man from Oakville into custody for his alleged involvement in stealing catalytic converters from trucks at Second Harvest in Etobicoke.
Officers responded to a report of theft near The East Mall and North Queen Street around 12:16 a. m. on October 11, 2026. Investigators claim that the suspects cut through a fence, accessed the parking lot, and took several catalytic converters from trucks before escaping in a vehicle.
On October 14, authorities executed a Criminal Code search warrant at an address in Oakville and arrested Corey Peter Lane, age 29.
Lane faces three charges each for breaking and entering with intent to commit an indictable offense, non-compliance with a release order, and failure to comply with a probation order.
Authorities believe that Lane might also be linked to additional thefts of catalytic converters targeting businesses nearby.
Police are currently looking into two more incidents. On September 13, suspects reportedly broke into a business close to North Queen Street and Kipling Avenue, causing damage to several vehicles while taking catalytic converters. Another similar incident was noted near The East Mall and North Queen Street shortly after midnight on October 11.
The investigation is still active as police seek to identify other suspects and find out if more businesses were affected.
If anyone has information about this case, they are urged to contact Toronto Police at 416-808-2200 or reach out anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
