Preferred Region How does this work?

One of the most exciting festivals for families this fall in Oakville is hosting a Halloween-themed event this weekend, and it’s sure to be filled with spooky fun for everyone.

Acorn Fest is one of Oakville’s largest fall festivals, which, yes, actually features a giant acorn. This weekend, they’re bringing a Halloween twist to the fest.

Apart from Oakville’s massive acorn that measures eight feet by six feet, there will be plenty of other Halloween-themed activities at the festival. Expect live entertainment, games, food and drinks, and of course, everyone is encouraged to wear their best costumes.

You’ll want to put in extra effort with those costumes since the day of fun kicks off with a costume contest not just for humans but also for their furry companions.

And why should you aim to have the best costume? Because there’s a $100 gift card up for grabs. The costume contest for people and pets starts at noon and wraps up at 1:30 p. m.

After that, there’s a “spooky salsa” session that begins at 1:45 p. m. and goes until 3 p. m. The eerie dance session will be led by City Dance Corps, which has been around in both Oakville and Toronto for over 20 years.

From 3 p. m. to 4 p. m., enjoy a magic show, followed by a two-hour performance from the Supersonic Hearts Band from 4 p. m. to 6 p. m., rounding off an early day filled with family fun.

No need to worry; that’s far from all the music and entertainment throughout the day during Acorn Fest’s Halloween edition. There will also be many musicians roaming around entertaining festival-goers along with other performers such as stilt walkers.

<p Naturally, to keep all the family-friendly seasonal tricks and treats alive, there will also be food available from local downtown restaurants in Oakville-not just for people but also pets. Local businesses will participate in the festival too.

Croissant Express will provide baked goods and dog-friendly cookies; Spice & Saffron will offer Indian snacks; Chocolate & Love will sell chocolates and sweets; Pizzaiolo will take care of hot pizza; Second Cup will serve puppuccinos and freshly baked treats; while Fly Spin offers drinks alongside “barkcuterie” boards.

The Oakville Galleries will set up a button-making station along with acorn coloring activities. The Ten Spot will do puppy manicures and henna art; Civello Salon has plans for a braid bar along with puppy painting sessions while Summer & Grace + Lollipop Art Lounge operate an “art for dogs” station.

The Halloween edition of Acorn Fest takes place in Oakville from 12 p. m. to 6 p. m. on Oct. 18.

You can find all these festivities at Towne Square located at 210 Lakeshore Rd E in Oakville.
