A long-standing Burger King has shut down.
A familiar Burger King that residents of west Mississauga often visited has closed its doors, making room for a new Chick-fil-A to potentially take over the location.
The restaurant was situated at 2460 Winston Churchill Boulevard, right at the southwest corner of Dundas Street West.
Although it has an Oakville address, the plaza is a well-known shopping spot for people from both communities, especially those living in west Mississauga.
The Burger King closed unexpectedly not too long ago, leaving the building vacant as it awaits its next chapter.
That next chapter will likely involve transforming it into a Chick-fil-A restaurant.
The Town of Oakville still lists this site as an active application by Chick-fil-A. The plans propose demolishing the current single-storey fast-food building and constructing a new single-storey restaurant with a double drive-through.
Since this proposal was first highlighted by INSAUGA Canada earlier this year, there have been advancements in the application process.
The town’s development file indicates multiple submissions have taken place, including updated plans submitted in February and another set of documents sent in April.
The latest blueprints envision a Chick-fil-A covering about 418 square metres, or around 4,500 square feet, complete with a patio and double drive-through access.

No official opening date has been confirmed yet. The proposal still needs to go through Oakville’s planning and approval steps before construction can begin.
However, for residents of Mississauga, this proposed restaurant would be much closer than one might think based on the address alone.
The site is just beyond Winston Churchill Boulevard’s boundary between Mississauga and Oakville. It features other familiar stores such as Winners, Sport Chek and Staples as anchors within the plaza.
This Burger King had served customers at that location for at least two decades.

A once busy Burger King now sits vacant.
This history means that changing this space into something new is more significant than just adding another fast-food option; it marks the end of an establishment that many locals relied on for years while welcoming a popular chicken chain to take its spot.
Chick-fil-A already operates two locations in Mississauga-at Square One and Heartland Town Centre-and there’s another one planned for Erin Mills Town Centre soon.
If everything goes according to plan and construction occurs, this restaurant on Winston Churchill Boulevard would be Oakville’s first Chick-fil-A but remain easily accessible for countless Mississauga residents nearby.
Additonally, west Mississauga locals would gain another convenient choice when craving chicken sandwiches or nuggets without having to travel further east into their city limits.
For now though, the most noticeable change is what has already happened-the familiar sight of Burger King is gone from its spot at the bustling intersection of Winston Churchill Boulevard and Dundas Street West.
The pressing question remains if Chick-fil-A will step up soon to fill that void.INsauga’s Editorial Standards and Policies
