UPDATE: Police have announced that all northbound lanes on Highway 410 in Mississauga, near Highway 407, are now open to traffic as of late Monday afternoon. The injuries from the earlier three-car crash have been assessed as non-life-threatening, according to police. (Earlier story appears below)

Traffic is heavily congested on northbound Highway 410 in Mississauga following a three-vehicle accident on Monday afternoon, say authorities.

Ontario Provincial Police reported that the incident involving three passenger cars has led to several lane closures on the busy highway heading towards Highway 407, with just one right lane still open for northbound vehicles.

Injuries were being evaluated after the crash took place around 3:30 p. m., according to officials.

Emergency teams are still present at the scene.

The cause of the collision hasn’t been specified by police.

OPP advised drivers to stay alert for traffic delays in the vicinity and consider alternative routes.
