Mississauga is reaching out to individuals looking for employment at the city’s primary sports and entertainment venue.
A one-day job fair is set for July 23, as the City of Mississauga aims to bring on over 150 new staff members for various roles at the Mississauga Sports and Entertainment Centre.
The event will take place in two sessions – from noon to 4 p. m. and then from 6 to 9 p. m. – at the large facility located at 5500 Rose Cherry Place, which was previously known as the Paramount Fine Foods Centre and before that, the Hershey Centre.
If you’re interested in attending, you can create a “candidate profile” ahead of time.
The city announced on Monday that there are more than 150 positions available, including licensed servers, cooks, kitchen helpers, and concession coordinator attendants. They are looking for “hospitality professionals” to join their team at this major venue.
Organizers highlighted that attendees have the chance to be hired right away.
“Interested candidates can meet with hiring managers, participate in pre-screening and interviews, and begin the hiring process that day,” said city officials.
No registration is necessary, but candidates should bring a copy of their resume. For those who aren’t hired on that day, offer letters will be sent out by mid-August, according to the city. Event organizers mentioned that competitive pay and benefits are part of what they offer, which includes: OMERS-defined benefit pension. 100 percent employer-paid health and dental coverage. Generous paid time off. Employee rewards and wellness programs supporting work-life balance and well-being.
The Mississauga Sports and Entertainment Centre boasts a variety of indoor and outdoor facilities designed for sports, recreation, and large events, according to the city.
The facilities include an indoor main spectator arena used for sports, concerts, and major events; it serves as home base for Raptors 905 of the NBA G League-officially affiliated with the Toronto Raptors.
This venue previously hosted Ontario Hockey League’s former team Mississauga Steelheads before they relocated north to Brampton in 2024.
The centre also features three additional ice rinks suitable for hockey and skating; a full-size indoor artificial turf field adaptable into multiple field sizes; plus a triple gymnasium catering to sports like basketball and volleyball along with a gymnastics center and fitness center.
