GO Transit users should prepare for changes this weekend as a significant construction closure affects train service on much of the Lakeshore West line.

On Saturday, Oct. 24 and Sunday, Oct. 25, there won’t be any GO train service between Aldershot GO and Union Station due to scheduled construction work.

Trains will still run between Niagara Falls and Aldershot GO, while buses will operate from West Harbour GO to the Union Station Bus Terminal.

This disruption means no service at Appleby, Bronte, Port Credit, Long Branch, Mimico or Exhibition GO stations during the weekend closure.

Riders who typically use these stations will need to rely on local transit systems like Burlington Transit, Oakville Transit, Mi Way and the TTC to access available GO services.

For those heading east from Appleby GO, it’s recommended to take Oakville Transit Route 14A to reach Oakville GO and then connect with a bus service to Union Station Bus Terminal. The journey is expected to last around one hour and 52 minutes.

If you’re at Bronte GO, you can catch Oakville Transit Route 18 to Oakville GO and transfer to a bus going to Union Station Bus Terminal. This trip takes about one hour and 21 minutes.

From Port Credit GO, riders can use Mi Way Route 2 and then switch onto GO bus Route 21 towards Union Station Bus Terminal. This route should take approximately one hour and 32 minutes.

If you’re starting your journey from Long Branch GO heading downtown, you can take TTC bus Route 110A to Islington Station. From there, hop on Line 2 towards St. George Station and switch over to Line 1 southbound heading toward Union Station. Expect this trip to take about one hour and eight minutes.

If you’re using Mimico GO station, take TTC bus Route 76 towards Royal York Station followed by Line 2 down to St. George before continuing on Line 1 southbound until you reach Union Station. This trip is estimated at around 55 minutes.

For passengers leaving from Exhibition GO station, hopping on the TTC’s streetcar number 509 will get you straight to Union Station in an estimated time of just about 29 minutes.

If you’re traveling toward Hamilton this weekend as well, plan for an additional wait time of about 15-25 minutes when switching between replacement buses and regular Route 18 trips at Aldershot GO.

A few late-night schedule changes are also in effect for Friday night (Oct.23).

The trains scheduled at11:24 p. m. from West Harbour GOto Union Stationand both the11:47 p. m. and12:47 a. m. trains going backwill not be running either; nor willthe12:17 a. m. trainfrom Union Stationto Aldershot GOoperate during that time frame.

You can find routes18Nand18Pat Oakville GOthat make all stops along tothe Aldershotand West Harbour GOstationsas alternatives during these times too!

A separate closure is happening at Long Branch GO as well; it’ll have no pedestrian access or station services available starting Friday night (Oct.23)at11 p. m. until Monday morning(Oct.26)at5 a. m., with its parking lot also closeddueconstructionscheduled during this period.
