Eastbound Hwy. 401 in Mississauga is back open after an overnight investigation into a shooting forced the closure of a significant section of the highway.

Peel Regional Police (PRP) reported that the shooting occurred around 12:16 a. m. on Friday. According to investigators, the victim exited the highway after the shots were fired and called for police assistance.

A vehicle thought to be linked to the shooting was found in the collector lanes close to the Mavis Road off-ramp, where officers were seen using flashlights to search the area.

Peel Paramedics indicated that they did not take anyone from the scene for treatment.

The OPP has assumed control of the investigation and informed 680 News Radio Toronto that the victim sustained minor injuries from glass shards that cut his arm.

The eastbound transfer lanes at Creditview Road remained closed for several hours as officials looked for evidence.

Investigators are still reviewing traffic camera footage but have no suspect description available at this time. They are urging anyone who drove through that area around when the shooting happened to get in touch with the OPP.
