A 77-year-old woman sustained serious injuries after being hit by a vehicle in Markham earlier this week, according to York Regional Police (YRP).
Officers were called to the scene of a pedestrian accident at 9:30 a. m. on Monday, Aug. 31, in a parking lot near Markham Road and Highglen Avenue.
The woman was taken to a hospital in critical condition, police reported. The driver stayed at the scene.
The investigation is still ongoing. Authorities believe there were witnesses nearby when the incident happened and are encouraging them to come forward.
