This year, the Honda Indy has a new track in a fresh location. Just a heads-up, there will be some service changes on the GO train this weekend and Line 1 of the TTC will be closed.

Honda Indy

More than 160,000 fans are expected to attend the first-ever Ontario Honda Dealers Indy in Markham this weekend. After nearly 40 years along Toronto’s lakeshore, the race is moving to downtown Markham and will feature a 3.52-kilometre street circuit.

The only Canadian race in the NTT Indycar series is scheduled for Sunday at 12:22 p. m., with additional races taking place throughout the weekend.

Up FRONT Festival of Indigenous Arts, Music and Culture

This weekend marks the annual Festival of Indigenous Arts, Music and Culture at Berczy Park.

Expect free outdoor concerts, family-friendly activities, an artisan marketplace, and live mural painting. Throughout the weekend, you’ll also get to see Indigenous street artists turn St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts into an open-air gallery.

The festival kicks off Friday at noon and runs until Sunday at 8 p. m.

CNE Horsecapades

Before the Canadian National Exhibition starts up again, don’t miss out on seeing some horses for free at Horse Capades.

There will be two shows each day at the CNE Horse Palace at 11:30 a. m. and 1:00 p. m., running until August 20. The shows include Trick Riding Show and a brand new Rescue Race competition.

Taste of Manila 2026

This weekend in Little Manila, get ready for Taste of Manila as it celebrates Filipino heritage. Canada’s largest Filipino street festival promises to offer food, music, and cultural experiences that everyone can enjoy together.

The event will feature numerous activities, performances, and showcases throughout the weekend with an expected turnout of over 500,000 people.

Taste of Manila starts Saturday from 9 a. m. to 11 p. m. and continues Sunday from 9 a. m. to 8 p. m.

India Day Festival and Grand Parade

Join us in celebrating India Day with festivities at Nathan Phillips Square that include a marketplace along with all-day performances by local dancers and singers.

The event concludes with a Grand Parade running from noon until 9 p. m. on Sunday; expect it to take place from 2 p. m. to 4 p. m., starting southbound from Nathan Phillips Square down Bay Street towards King Street West before looping back via University Avenue ending back at Nathan Phillips Square.

TTC/GO closures

Line 1 closure

This Friday night after midnight (August14), subway service on Line 1 between Sheppard West Station and St Clair West Station will switch over to shuttle buses until end-of-service on Sunday due to scheduled track work

Kitchener GO line service adjustments:
On Saturday (August15) and Sunday (August16), construction work means no trains are running between Stratford or Kitchener stations and Mount Pleasant GO Stations; buses will replace trains instead.
Some bus routes may still operate between Stratford/Kitchener and Hwy 407 Bus Terminal.
Train services remain operational between Mount Pleasant GO Station and Mount Dennis GO.Barrie GO line service adjustments:On Saturday (August15) and Sunday (August16), Barrie line services won’t have any trains running either.
Instead bus transport runs directly between Allandale Waterfront station to Rutherford GO then connects onwards towards Hwy407 Bus Terminal.
For those needing access while visiting Union or Downsview Park stations; they can utilize TTC Line1 connections into/from our bus services.

Road closures

Weekend road closures Taste of Manila The following road restrictions go into effect: Bathurst Street closes between Laurelcrest Avenue & Wilson Avenue starting early Saturday morning August15 @12 AM lasting till Monday morning Aug17 @02 AM. Up Front Indigenous Festival of Arts & Music The following closures are happening: Scott Street becomes restricted blocking vehicle access from Wellington Street East through Esplanade area beginning Friday morning August14 @05 AM continuing through until late evening hours this upcoming Sunday night – local traffic granted permission though! Wheels on Danforth Restrictions commence as follows: Danforth Avenue shall close completely extending across regions ranging including Warden Ave leading into Byng Ave plus also sections extending westward past Danforth Road reaching down toward Landry Ave occurring both days commencing early morning hours August15 – lasting up till late night hour reach closing time – removal likely after midnight hence full reopening happens around following day once time strikes twelve o’clock. Panorama India Day Festival & Grand Parade The following traffic limitations apply during our celebrations: Saturday night closing hours range run roughly around ten PM through six PM next day while eastbound lanes decreasing capacity occur via Edward Street leading down toward University Avenue whilst further limits imposed upon westbound direction located nearby Chestnut St crossing adjacent route traveling onward passing by same section alongside Yonge stretches beyond its previous closure zone mentioned earlier thus creating unique flow restrictions! For actual parade routing-oncoming foot traffic halts operations starting exactly two P. M progressing till six P. M once again thus complete halting measures kick start effect directly influencing heavy load segments predominantly focused within Dundas corridor areas themselves. Lastly exact centerpieces such as roads where Yonge intersects Gerrard along passages shaping Bay being cut off entirely preventing passageway existence thereby causing noteworthy congestions throughout entire area network systems effectively spanning larger distance consequently lengthening delays notably present due surrounding infrastructure built layouts already established prior unto today-be sure keep awareness about surroundings watchfulness always necessary especially when visiting public events just like these too!
