The family of Biscuit, the fluffy Holland Lop rabbit who was taken from the Markham Fair over the weekend, says he has been found and is now safely back home.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday, Victoria Mc Clelland expressed that her family is “overjoyed” to have their beloved pet back in their lives.
“Our prayers have been answered! Our house is full of excitement, happy tears and pure joy having our little Biscuit back home where he belongs,” she wrote in her post.
Mc Clelland mentioned that Biscuit was taken by “some adults” at the fair during the weekend but was returned safely after a cash reward offer was posted online.
Previously, Mc Clelland said that losing Biscuit had left her family, especially her daughter, heartbroken. They had shared their story on social media along with Markham Fair organizers and community members who came together to support his safe return.
“One of the biggest things I’ll take from all of this is what it showed our daughter and our other kids,” Mc Clelland said.
“Our daughter felt so much love from complete strangers. She genuinely couldn’t believe how many people she had never even met cared about her and wanted to help her find Biscuit.”
Mc Clelland previously said Biscuit’s disappearance had left the family, especially her daughter, pictured, completely devastated. (Victoria Mc Clelland/Facebook)
York Region police, who were looking into the case, declined to comment.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the Markham and East York Agricultural Society shared that they were “overjoyed” about Biscuit’s safe return.
“We are absolutely thrilled that Biscuit is home where he belongs,” said Devin King, the fair’s president.
