York Region police are alerting the community after another coyote attack occurred in Markham, Ont., on Sunday.

According to authorities, a coyote bit a child on the head at a park near Roy Rainey and Bur Oak avenues around 7:30 p. m.

The child, who is about five years old, was taken to the hospital for treatment. The bite was not life-threatening.

Authorities advise residents to be cautious when visiting parks around Mc Cowan Road and 16th Avenue in Markham.

Last week, they reported that a coyote had bitten a 16-year-old girl near Mingay and Bur Oak avenues; she was also hospitalized with minor injuries.

Police urge people to stay vigilant, maintain distance from any wildlife, and refrain from approaching or feeding coyotes.
