York Regional Police are asking for any other victims to step forward after a man was arrested in connection with an armed robbery of a sex trade worker in Markham.

On June 16, 2026, around 11:30 p. m., officers went to a home near Mc Cowan Road and Bur Oak Avenue following reports of a robbery. Investigators say the suspect arrived at the location looking for sexual services, and once he was alone with the victim, he allegedly demanded cash and threatened them with a knife.

Police found the suspect inside the residence shortly after the incident and took him into custody without further problems.

Yousif BABIKER, 25, who has no fixed address, has been charged with Armed Robbery, Obtaining Sexual Services for Consideration, and two counts of Fail to Comply with a Judicial Release Order. Police report that BABIKER was under house arrest at the time and had conditions preventing him from possessing weapons.

York Regional Police have shared a photo of the accused and are reaching out to the public because there may be other victims.

If anyone has information, they are asked to contact investigators at 1-866-876-5423, ext. 6800 or provide anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers.
