Four individuals were hurt, with two suffering critical injuries, after a two-car accident in Markham.

York Region police reported that the incident took place at Major Mackenzie Drive and Mc Cowan Road just before 5 p. m. on Friday.

The 42-year-old driver of one vehicle was rushed to a trauma center with life-threatening injuries, while a young woman sustained serious injuries.

A young man from the second vehicle was also taken to a trauma center with life-threatening injuries. The female driver of that vehicle received treatment for minor injuries.

The details surrounding the crash are still under investigation.
