A man is currently hospitalized with serious injuries after an explosion occurred at a home in London, Ont. Emergency crews rushed to the scene following several 911 calls reporting the incident.
Brent Shea, a platoon chief with the London Fire Department, informed AM980 that they received numerous reports of the explosion at 131 Base Line Road W. on Wednesday.
“They (crews) confirmed that there was a structure that exploded on the property there,” Shea said. “Some remnants, but essentially the building has been demolished.”

According to Shea, the injured individual was not inside the structure when the explosion took place, though he didn’t specify their location relative to the building.

Emergency officials stated in a social media update that the house that exploded had been empty.
The fire crews have secured the area and are coordinating with utility companies to make sure everything is safe by shutting off gas and hydro services.

No additional injuries have been reported, and investigators are currently at the site. The cause of this explosion is still unknown.
