The province is putting millions into three primary care teams in Waterloo Region to help patients find doctors.
The government announced these groups will get $3.2 million through the province’s Primary Care Action Plan, which was set up in 2025. The aim is to connect every person in Ontario with a family doctor or primary care team by 2029.
Premier Doug Ford visited Community Healthcaring Kitchener-Waterloo in Kitchener, one of nearly 200 groups across Ontario that are benefiting from this funding.
This isn’t the first time Community Healthcaring Kitchener-Waterloo has received support; they got over $1 million in 2025-2026. Thanks to that investment, the organization reports it has connected almost 3,000 patients, exceeding its goal of 2,115.
Ford discussed the positive impact these investments have made and reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring everyone in Ontario has access to healthcare by 2029, stating:
“Here in Kitchener, these investments are helping more people get the care they need when and where they need it. I want to thank all of our incredible partners in the community who are helping make this possible as we work to connect everyone in the province to a family doctor, nurse practitioner or primary care team by 2029.”

Funding Details for Waterloo Region
The other two organizations receiving funding are the Waterloo Region Nurse Practitioner-Led Clinic and New Vision Family Health Team. Together, Ontario says these three groups will receive over $3.2 million from provincial support. In total, these three primary care teams have helped connect nearly 7,700 patients with medical care. As a result, MPP of Cambridge Brian Riddell says he’s seeing progress thanks to Ontario’s investments and added: “People in Cambridge and across our region deserve timely, convenient access to primary care close to home, and that’s exactly what these investments are helping deliver.
