It seems like a chapter is closing for a long-standing fixture of birthday celebrations and holiday mornings in Waterloo Region.

The Toys “R” Us store that has been located for 40 years at the intersection of Fairway Road South and Wilson Avenue in Kitchener is now up for sale.

A big “For Sale” sign has appeared at this busy intersection.

For several years, the company has faced financial struggles, leading to store closures across Canada.

In January, the company revealed plans to close five locations in Ontario this year, including those in London and Stoney Creek.

This past summer, the Brantford location shut its doors permanently.

There’s no information yet on what the asking price for the Kitchener property will be. The posting does not include a price.

It’s also unclear when the Kitchener store might close since selling such a large building can take some time.
