Join the Fun at Markham’s Children’s Festival This Saturday

Bring your kids to the Markham-Milliken Children’s Festival on September 12 for a day filled with fun, games, and educational activities.

This family festival, presented by Tim Hortons, features free activities that are perfect for families, interactive experiences, and live entertainment. There are also attractions for toddlers, food vendors, and paid rides. You can drop in for some hands-on fun, enjoy an animal or science show, or make it a full day with a Play-All-Day Pass that lets the whole family join in on the excitement.

 

What to Look Forward To:

You’ll find both free and ticketed activities suitable for various age groups.

The free activities include sensory tables, STEM projects, building blocks, and mini putt. Toddler Town features Fun Fair Park Jr. and a Fire Engine Slide with specific height and weight restrictions.

The main stage is active from 10 a. m. to 6:30 p. m., showcasing animal shows, magic acts, bubble performances, dance routines, science displays, and musical acts.

You’ll also find food vendors, refill stations, contests and shuttle transportation available throughout the day for families.

Free play for curious kids:

If your child enjoys tinkering or being hands-on with projects, they’ll love the free activities like sensory tables and interactive building blocks along with mini putt. In Toddler Town there’s Fun Fair Park Jr., designed for kids between 30 to 60 inches tall up to 100 pounds plus a Fire Engine Slide that requires kids to be at least 38 inches tall.

A lively stage schedule:

The main stage kicks off at 10 a. m. with an Interactive DJ followed by an Educational Animal Show. Then you can catch Mad Science demonstrations followed by a Magic Show and the Welcome Ceremony at 1 p. m. Later in the day look out for Miss Maia’s Bubble Show along with Chris Mc Khool’s Global Dance Party performance featuring artists from the Chinese Collective Arts Association as well as The Circus Drummer.

Your ride pass options:

<p. Getting a Play-All-Day Pass allows children unlimited access to rides and inflatables but do keep in mind individual attraction restrictions apply. If you purchase passes early they cost $10 plus HST compared to $15 plus HST on festival day itself. A Millie Doll combined with a pass costs $30 plus HST if bought ahead of time while buying just the doll onsite will set you back $20 while supplies last.

You’ll find delicious options like ice cream cones hot dogs bao tacos egg waffles popcorn BBQ squid BBQ lamb along with refreshing lemonade too! Don’t forget you can bring your reusable bottle since refill stations will be around!

<pp. Markham residents who are aged 18 or older can fill out one ballot while supplies last to enter Tim Hortons’ “Coffee for a Year” contest.

<pp. There won’t be any public parking available at Aaniin Community Centre except designated accessible spots so consider parking free at Milliken Mills Community Centre where you can hop on their complimentary shuttle which runs every half hour! There’s also limited free parking available over Middlefield Collegiate Institute but it operates on first-come-first-served basis; bike racks will also be provided onsite!</pp
