A single-vehicle accident caused a lengthy closure on Highway 24 between Cambridge and Brantford on Thursday.
Reports started coming in just before 5 a. m. regarding the crash that occurred between Blue Lake Road and German School Road. Callers indicated that emergency services were at the scene, working to redirect traffic around the affected area.
This closure resulted in delays at both ends, and the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) noted that repairs to hydro lines were necessary following the incident.
In addition to the crash, Grand Bridge Energy reported that the collision led to a power outage affecting over 1,200 residents in the St. George area.
Highway 24 was fully reopened around 1:30 p. m. on Thursday, and power was also restored around that same time.
