A driver from Cambridge was one of five people who lost their lives in a crash that took place in Norwich Township.
The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrived at the scene of the accident at the intersection of Highway 59 and Quaker Street around 3 p. m. on March 31.
An SUV collided with a transport truck.
The 39-year-old driver of the SUV from Cambridge was declared dead at the scene. Two passengers, aged 13 and 17 from Tillsonburg, were also confirmed deceased.
Two other passengers were taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
On April 9, OPP announced that the two remaining victims, a 46-year-old and a 21-year-old from Tillsonburg, had passed away due to their injuries.
“I just want to take this opportunity to send all my deepest and sincerest condolences to everybody that’s been affected by this tragedy,” said Sgt. Ed Sanchuk. “To all family and friends, you’re in our thoughts.”
The driver of the transport truck did not sustain any injuries during the incident.
Sanchuk mentioned that following their investigation, no charges will be filed and no additional information will be provided.
