A city council candidate who did not win in Monday night’s vote has asked for an inquiry into the campaign of the winning candidate.
In a message sent to the city, Trillium District candidate Prakash Dayal stated that confirmation of the election results for the Trillium District council seat should be put on hold until the investigation is completed.
“In light of numerous non-compliant activities observed within the Trillium District – including the unlawful placement of election signage, active campaigning within restricted voting boundaries, and potential violations of campaign expense limits – I formally request that the City of Kingston Election Office withhold the official declaration of my opponent, Mr. Jamshed Hassan, as the winner of this election pending a full investigation,” Dayal wrote.
