Two tornadoes caused damage to buildings and knocked down trees near Kingston, Ont., last week during a severe storm that swept through the region.

Both tornadoes occurred on Tuesday, as confirmed by the Northern Tornadoes Project (NTP) in a report released on Sunday after their team investigated the reported damage.

The first tornado struck at around 12:35 p. m. in Verona, which is about 36 kilometres north of Kingston.

Farm properties and trees were damaged in Verona, Hartington, and Harrowsmith after the storm passed through, according to the organization. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries.

Minutes later after the first storm passed, NTP noted that a second tornado touched down in the Kingston area around 12:50 p. m.

This storm was classified as an EF0-the lowest rating for a twister-but still had maximum wind speeds estimated at 115 km/h. No injuries were reported.

A drone and ground survey found extensive tree damage along a path stretching from Silver Corners southeast toward CFB Kingston.

The city of Kingston had been under a red-alert tornado warning on June 30.
