With great sorrow, the family of Donna Uurainen shares the news of her unexpected passing on August 29, 2026, at the age of 78 at Hogarth Riverview Manor. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Donna’s life was full of meaning, encompassing both struggles and heartfelt connections. Although she was a quiet person, if anyone tried to breach that white picket fence surrounding her family, she would firmly assert that everything was just fine. In her 40s, she began receiving treatment for her illness and later spent her years in long-term care with support from those around her. The little joys in life brought her happiness during visits; just remember to bring Canada Dry, hot chocolate, red lipstick, and the furry granddogs Talvi and Trixie. Throughout all phases of her life, she remained a valued member of her family. She was predeceased by her husband Heikki, son Gordon, parents Russell and Pearl Paul, and sister Judith Pidgeon. She is survived by daughter Corlynn along with grandchildren Chantal (Tyler), Brandon, Blake, Drew; great-grandson Logan; brother Russell (Aila) (Doreen); sisters Diane and Marilyn (Bill); daughter-in-law Lorraine (Ray); brother-in-law Hannu (Margie); many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Donna’s life can’t be summed up by achievements or difficulties faced. She was a mother and grandmother who played an important role in a family’s story; her presence truly mattered. May she rest peacefully now without any struggles; you got your get out day Mom-put on that red lipstick and shine bright. And yes, you were always a decent woman. The family wishes to thank all the doctors, nurses, housekeepers, dietary team members, and other staff from LPH St Joseph’s Care Group and Hogarth Riverview Manor for their unwavering care over the years. Cremation has taken place followed by a celebration of life on Sunday September 20th 2026 at 1:00pm at 276 West Amelia Street Thunder Bay side entrance.
