A man from Hamilton, Ontario, is facing legal trouble after allegedly making a threat against Premier Doug Ford. This marks the second similar incident in under a week.

The Ontario Provincial Police’s protective services section (PSS) launched an investigation on February 22 into the threat made against Ford.

As a result of their inquiries, 25-year-old Lucas Bauer was arrested and charged with one count of uttering threats to cause bodily harm or death.

According to the OPP, Bauer has been released from custody and is set to appear in court in Toronto on April 13.

“Threats are criminal in nature and will not be tolerated. The OPP takes every incident seriously and is committed to investigating these matters, regardless of who is impacted,” said Insp. Anton Jelich in a statement.

This case is the second reported by the OPP within the past week, following another arrest involving a man from Allison, Ontario that was announced last Thursday.

In that earlier case, OPP stated that the alleged threats dated back to February 13 when members of the PPS began their investigation.

Police reported that 20-year-old Ramy Jamil Hanna was arrested and charged with one count of uttering threats to cause harm.

Hanna has also been released from custody and is scheduled for a court appearance on April 9.

Last week, the RCMP announced charges against a Winnipeg man who allegedly “targeted” Prime Minister Mark Carney as well as Jewish and Muslim communities through posts on X.

The RCMP revealed these charges on March 2; however, their investigation started on January 16. They noted in a press release that a user on X had made threatening posts about Carney while inciting hatred towards Jewish and Muslim groups.

The RCMP didn’t specify what those posts contained but mentioned they are mandated to investigate criminal offenses related to terrorism, espionage, cyberattacks, nuclear security risks, and activities influenced by foreign entities among others.

If anyone has information regarding the Hamilton situation, they’re encouraged to contact OPP or Crime Stoppers if they want to remain anonymous.
