9 a. m. UPDATE SATURDAY MAY 23:  HAMILTON ROAD HAS REOPENED TO TRAFFIC

A house located on Hamilton Road at the corner of Wallbridge-Loyalist Road was completely consumed by fire early this Saturday morning.

Firefighters from Quinte West, along with OPP and Hastings-Quinte Paramedics, arrived shortly after 2 o’clock.

According to Fire Chief John Whalen, despite the quick response, firefighters found the entire structure engulfed in flames upon arrival.

Whalen mentioned that the homeowner is thought to be in Kingston, but there’s a chance that the son could be present.

The OPP is currently looking into the incident, and the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office has also been notified. Quinte West Fire Stations 3 and 4 were dispatched while Belleville Fire and Emergency Services stood by.

The section of Hamilton Road between Wallbridge-Loyalist and Aikins roads will remain closed for investigation until further notice.
