The Hamilton Police Service has introduced a new online tool that lets community members and businesses report any suspected drug-related activities they notice in Hamilton.
This reporting option gives residents and businesses an additional way to inform the police about observed drug issues, including suspected drug use, dealing, or other specific incidents where immediate police intervention isn’t necessary.
This effort follows the Downtown Safety Summit, where community partners, local businesses, and residents expressed concerns about ongoing drug activity and its effects on the downtown area. Since then, Hamilton Police have been taking steps based on these discussions, such as opening a new police substation in Jackson Square.
Reports submitted through this online tool will be examined by the relevant Divisional Crime Manager. These reports can assist police in pinpointing recurring locations, identifying patterns, and recognizing emerging issues. They may also aid in operational planning or follow-up actions by officers.
Using the online report doesn’t guarantee that an officer will be dispatched immediately. If you witness an ongoing incident posing a risk to public safety or need urgent assistance, call 9-1-1.
