Authorities in Wellington County are still looking into a situation after a body was found inside a car on Wellington Road 32, and they’ve announced that the road will be closed “for an extended period” of time.
Officers arrived at the scene following reports of a suspicious vehicle around 7:30 a. m. on Monday morning. They found the body of an individual inside.
“Preliminary information suggests this is an isolated incident with no indication of a broader threat,” Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Wellington County stated in a release on Wednesday.
The investigation is ongoing, and officers are continuing to “actively monitor the situation,” according to the police service.
“The public can expect an increased police presence on Wellington Road 32, which is closed from Forestell Road to Concession Road 4. The closure is expected to remain in place for an extended period. No estimated reopening time is available,” police said Wednesday.
The OPP officers are collaborating with the Office of the Chief Coroner and Ontario Forensic Pathology Service as part of their inquiry.
Police are asking anyone who might have been near the area between 9 p. m. Sunday and 7:30 a. m. on Monday, and who has information or video footage from dashcams or business surveillance, to reach out to officers or submit a tip through Crime Stoppers.
