Guelph police say seven folks, together with three teenagers, had been arrested Wednesday evening after officers seized roughly $30,000 value of medication and a loaded handgun from an area motel.

“There is a vital public security danger to this behaviour,” stated Guelph police spokesperson Scott Tracey.

“It is necessary that those that undertake most of these crimes right here in Guelph perceive that we are going to examine them and convey them to justice.”

The arrests comply with an investigation that started earlier this month by the Guelph Police Service Drug Enforcement Unit. Investigators had been monitoring a person believed to be trafficking managed substances from a motel. 

Simply after 10 p.m. Wednesday, officers executed search warrants at two rooms. Inside, they are saying they discovered suspected crystal meth and cocaine, a loaded 9mm handgun, together with money and supplies generally used for drug packaging. 

Three males from Guelph and two boys aged 15 and 17 at the moment are going through a number of charges, together with two counts of possession for the aim of trafficking and varied firearms offences. 

The 15-year-old can also be charged with possessing stolen property after police say he was seen driving a stolen Honda CR-V in the course of the investigation. 

A 38-year-old Guelph man and a 27-year-old Guelph woman have additionally been charged with drug trafficking associated offences. All seven folks had been held for bail hearings on Thursday. 

Tracey credited the town’s public security investments for serving to get the medication and weapons off the road.

“We’ve got made vital investments over the previous few years in each our uniform officers and non-uniform officers similar to our drug unit,” he stated.

“Any extra assets that we’ve got assist us to do our job higher and make sure the security of the neighborhood.”
