LATEST UPDATE 12:40 p. m. : Environment Canada has lifted the tornado warning. Although the immediate risk of a tornado is over, some regions might still be under severe thunderstorm warnings or watches as the storm system continues its path across southern Ontario. Residents should keep an eye on the latest weather alerts and stay ready for strong winds, heavy rainfall, and potential power outages.

LATEST UPDATE 12:19 p. m. : According to Environment Canada, meteorologists are actively monitoring the dangerous storm that may be capable of producing a tornado. The agency stresses that this situation remains life-threatening, with possible damaging winds, large hail, and intense rainfall. Those in the warning area are advised to stay sheltered and look out for further updates as the storm progresses.

Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Halton Hills, Milton, and Brampton due to a dangerous storm capable of producing damaging winds, heavy rain, and even a tornado as it travels through southern Ontario.

Meteorologists report that the thunderstorm is currently positioned over Halton Hills and is advancing east at 40 km/h.

The storm could generate wind gusts up to 90 km/h, bring 15 to 30 mm of heavy rain, and poses a risk of tornadoes.

Communities directly affected by this storm include Halton Hills, Milton, and Brampton. Although Mississauga, Toronto, and other nearby GTA areas are not currently included in the warning zone, residents should continue monitoring weather conditions since storms can shift direction or intensify rapidly.

Environment Canada cautions that this storm might cause localized power outages as high winds could bring down tree branches and power lines. Heavy rainfall may also result in flash flooding with water pooling on roads and significantly lower visibility for drivers.

Residents are encouraged to seek immediate shelter if threatening weather approaches. If you’re outside, find refuge in a sturdy building and protect yourself from flying debris.

Emergency Management Ontario is advising people to take cover right away if severe weather occurs.

Environment Canada highlights that severe thunderstorms can lead to tornadoes; hence those in the warning area should remain vigilant and be ready to act quickly if a tornado alert is issued.

The weather agency urges residents to keep tracking the latest forecasts and alerts as the storm heads east across southern Ontario.
