A dump truck driver is facing charges for impaired driving following a crash in York Region that resulted in injuries to another driver.
According to York Regional Police, officers arrived at the scene just before 10:45 a. m. on March 9 after a collision at the intersection of Bloomington Road East and Ninth Line in Whitchurch-Stouffville. They found that a dump truck had hit another vehicle from behind at the intersection.
The driver of the other vehicle sustained minor injuries and received treatment on-site.
The police took the dump truck driver into custody for impaired operation. Breath tests revealed that the driver’s blood alcohol content was over three times the legal limit, as stated by investigators.
A 34-year-old man from Brampton has been charged with impaired operation and driving with a blood alcohol concentration exceeding 80 mg. Authorities did not disclose his name, and these charges are still pending in court.
York Regional Police emphasized that impaired driving remains a serious threat to safety on local roads and encouraged community members to report any suspected impaired drivers.
“If you see a driver that you suspect is impaired, call 9-1-1,” police said.
