Peel police have provided some useful tips to help avoid becoming a victim of auto theft:
If possible, park your vehicle inside a locked garage since most vehicles have been taken from driveways. Use a steering wheel lock as it acts as a visible deterrent. Install a lock on the data port. This simple device can be bought online and blocks access to the computer port that thieves use to reprogram keys for the vehicle. Consider getting a good video surveillance system. Make sure cameras are positioned correctly and work both day and night. Get familiar with the system so you can check it quickly when needed. INsauga’s Editorial Standards and Policies
