Authorities report that two individuals have died following a targeted shooting outside an elementary school in Brampton on Friday night.
According to Peel Regional Police media relations officer Laurie Mc Cann, a teenage boy and a man in his 20s were both shot and succumbed to their injuries at the scene near Rutherford Road and Weybridge Trail.
Mc Cann mentioned that the initial investigation shows there was an altercation among a group of people on the grounds outside St. Joachim Elementary School, which escalated into gunfire.
The media relations officer stated that one of the victims managed to flee but collapsed shortly after.
She added that the suspect or suspects involved also left the area, although it’s not clear if they escaped on foot or by vehicle.
At this time, police do not have any descriptions of the suspect or suspects.
Mc Cann noted that Peel Regional Police’s homicide unit is actively canvassing the neighborhood and talking to witnesses as they continue their investigation into the shooting.
Authorities are urging anyone who might have seen what happened, or who has video surveillance or dashcam footage from around 10:30 p. m. Friday night, to come forward.
