Authorities report that two individuals have lost their lives following a targeted shooting outside an elementary school in Brampton on Friday night.
Laurie Mc Cann from the Peel Regional Police media relations office stated that a teenage boy and a man in his 20s were both shot and succumbed to their injuries at the scene, located near Rutherford Road and Weybridge Trail.
According to Mc Cann, initial investigations suggest that an argument erupted among a group of people on the grounds outside St. Joachim Elementary School, which then escalated into gunfire.
The media relations officer noted that one of the victims attempted to flee but collapsed shortly after.
She mentioned that the suspect or suspects also fled the area, though it remains unclear whether they escaped on foot or by vehicle.
Currently, police do not have any descriptions of the suspect or suspects available.
Mc Cann added that the homicide unit from Peel Regional Police is actively canvassing the area and interviewing witnesses as part of their ongoing investigation into the shooting.
Law enforcement officials are urging anyone who may have seen what happened, or who has video footage from nearby surveillance cameras or dash cams from around 10:30 p. m. Friday night, to step forward.
