Kawartha Lakes OPP report that three people have died, including a man from Barrie, and two others were hurt following a serious crash in Omemee on Saturday.
At about 6 p. m., emergency responders arrived at the intersection of Highway 7 and New Heights Road where a passenger vehicle collided with four motorcycles.
The driver of the passenger vehicle, an 18-year-old from Peterborough, and one of the motorcyclists, a 72-year-old from Dunchurch, were declared dead at the scene.
A second motorcyclist, a 65-year-old man from Barrie, was airlifted to a trauma center in Toronto with severe injuries but later succumbed to them.
Two male riders from Sudbury aged 36 and 30 sustained injuries in the accident. The older rider received treatment at the scene and was released while the younger one was taken to a local hospital before being moved to a trauma center in Toronto.
Authorities stated that members of the OPP Technical Collision Investigation (TCI) unit were dispatched to help with the investigation.
