NEWS RELEASE
GEORGIAN COLLEGE
*************************
Future Georgian College students will have more ways to prepare for growing and emerging career opportunities with the introduction of five new programs in 2027-28.

The new offerings will expand career-focused learning and give students more options for preparing for the workforce. One of these is medical radiation technology, a three-year Ontario College Advanced Diploma program designed to train students as diagnostic imaging professionals.

A clear medical image can be an important first step toward answers for a patient and the health-care professionals supporting them.

Through classroom instruction, simulation-based learning, and three clinical placements, students will gain skills in radiological sciences, quality imaging procedures, and compassionate patient care.

The full-time program will start in fall 2027 and will be held in person at Georgian’s Barrie campus.

“Georgian’s new programs will create more opportunities for students to build practical skills and pursue meaningful careers while helping respond to changing workforce needs,” said Sheila West, vice-president, academic. “They give prospective students more choices to find a program that reflects their interests, experience, and career goals.”

In addition to medical radiation technology, other new programs launching in 2027 include:

Two-year Ontario College Diplomas

Applied Artificial Intelligence: Students will learn how to collect and analyze data, design and deploy AI solutions, and apply machine learning and generative AI to real-world challenges. Cybersecurity Technician: Students will develop skills in cloud security, ethical hacking, digital forensics, and incident response through hands-on learning and a capstone project. Game – Art and Animation: Students will create characters and digital worlds through game art, animation, and visual effects while building a professional portfolio using real-time production workflows.

One-year Ontario College Graduate Certificate

Fundraising Management: Delivered online, the program helps students develop skills in fundraising, donor engagement, resource development, and campaign planning through real-world projects.

Together, these expanded offerings provide new options for students at various stages of their education-whether they’re starting their post-secondary journey or looking to enhance their existing knowledge or specialize further.

Applications are now open for programs starting in 2027. Learn more about Georgian’s new programs at Georgian College. ca/newprograms
