Issue arose ‘due to a third-party application procured through transit services that is likely sourcing from Google Maps,’ says mayor
It’s being fixed.
‘Lake America’ appearing on a Barrie Transit map is just a temporary situation, according to city officials.
“The city public servants are fixing the issue as we speak,” said Mayor Alex Nuttall, “and is due to a third-party application procured through transit services that is likely sourcing from Google Maps.
“I have been briefed and this will be rectified in the coming days,” Nuttall said just after 9 a. m. today.
U. S. President Donald Trump signed an executive order this week to rename Lake Ontario as Lake America.
Users in Canada will still see it displayed as Lake Ontario on Google Maps, though the search engine will pull up Lake America as a result if users enter that name in their query.
