A Temagami resident is facing charges for assaulting police with a weapon and impaired driving.
A driver has been charged after reportedly leading police on a chase through Barrie and Oro-Medonte on Saturday.
Just after midnight, officers from the Aurora and Orillia OPP detachments responded to reports of a vehicle being driven erratically on Highway 400 North in Barrie. They found the vehicle on Highway 11 North in Oro-Medonte and attempted to pull it over. When the driver did not stop, a tire deflation device was used, bringing the vehicle to a halt shortly thereafter, according to an Orillia OPP news release.
Nikola Pejic, 53, from Temagami, has been charged with the following:
Operation while impaired (alcohol and drugs)
Flight from a peace officer (two counts)
Dangerous operation (two counts)
Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code (two counts)
Assaulting a police officer with a weapon (three counts)
Failure to comply with an undertaking
Failure to comply with a probation order
The accused was taken into custody, and a bail hearing is set for Saturday.
