An officer with the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Peterborough County has charged a young driver with impaired driving after responding to a report from a worried homeowner.
On Wednesday, May 27, 2026, just before midnight, an officer was sent to check on a possible impaired driver following a call. The caller mentioned that a vehicle had pulled off the road and appeared damaged. Concerned for safety, the homeowner approached the driver and then contacted police.
Officers arrived quickly and spoke briefly with the driver. The officer then requested an Approved Screening Device (ASD). The driver complied and was subsequently arrested and taken to the Peterborough County OPP detachment for further testing.
Vaughn IRWN (age 20) from Lakehurst, ON., was arrested and faces charges for:
• Operating while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
• Young driver – B. A. C. above zero
The accused is set to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on July 7, 2026.
The driver’s license has been suspended for 90 days, and their vehicle will be impounded for seven days.
