Next month, thousands of dogs and their owners are set to gather at Markham Museum for another exciting weekend at the Barkham Festival, packed with dog-themed activities, vendors, and entertainment.
This two-day event is scheduled for June 13 and 14 from 11 a. m. to 6 p. m. across the museum’s expansive 25-acre grounds located at 9350 Markham Rd.
As the largest dog-centric festival in York Region, Barkham will showcase over 100 vendors, food trucks, games, and giveaways.
This year’s lineup includes the return of the “Doggy Pawlympics,” where dogs can participate in fun activities like lure courses, agility challenges, and scent detection exercises, along with live demonstrations throughout the day.
<p attendees can also visit the “Pup-Art Zone,” featuring pottery workshops and custom keepsakes inspired by pets. Rescue organizations are invited to join in through the event’s “Rescue Reunion” program for meetups.
A unique attraction this year is “Paws-itively Ever After Wedding Photos,” allowing dogs to dress up in wedding or anniversary-themed outfits for professional photoshoots.
The festival will host breed-specific meetups every 15 minutes, supervised by trainers who will capture group photos and provide treat giveaways for participating pups.
An outdoor marketplace known as “Barkville Mall” will feature local businesses offering pet apparel, treats, accessories, wellness products, and services.
Food vendors catering to both humans and dogs will be included in the festival’s “Barkham Café” area.
