Matthew C. Hollar, age 28, of Ashland, sadly passed away on September 4, 2020 after a short illness at Ohio Health Shelby Hospital. Matt was born on May 27, 1992 in Mansfield. He finished his studies at Ontario High School in 2011 and also went to Pioneer Career and Technology Center where he trained to be an automobile technician.
During his school years, Matt played soccer and participated in the marching band. He had a passion for go-kart racing, enjoyed watching car races, and loved working on cars. His favorite dirt track racers were Ryan Markham and Matt Irey. Fishing was another hobby he cherished along with spending time with his family. He was a member of Ontario United Methodist Church. Most recently, Matt was employed by Sharpnack Chevrolet in Willard.
He is survived by his daughter, Hailey Hollar; mother, Tamela (nee Bemiller) (Robert Yancer) Hollar; girlfriend, Amber Harner and her daughter, Avery; brother, Joshua (Jessica) Hollar; grandparents, Louis (Diane) Bemiller and Rita Winkler; aunts and uncles including Andrew Winkler, Patricia Bemiller, Gary Bail, Eric (Connie) Bail and Steve (Chris) Bail; nephews Peyton and Isaiah; niece Journee; along with many other relatives and friends.
Matt was preceded in death by great grandparents Orval and Betty Bemiller as well as Bill and Willa Bail along with his special aunt Valeta Miller.
Visitation will take place on Friday, September 11, 2020 at the Ontario United Methodist Church located at 3540 Park Ave. West in Ontario, OH from 10 a. m. until the start of the service at 11:30 a. m., led by Pastor Karen Wagenhals. To ensure everyone’s safety during this time, guests are asked to wear masks and follow COVID-19 social distancing guidelines. Burial will occur after the service at Ontario Cemetery.
