A 24-year-old Sikh man has admitted guilt after videos surfaced showing him firing guns from a Jeep on Crown land in Ontario, leading to a police investigation and charges related to firearms. Gurkanwal Singh pleaded guilty in a Bracebridge courtroom to the careless use of a firearm after investigators connected him to videos displaying unsafe gunfire in the Georgian Bay area. The incident gained attention in 2025 when videos went viral online, depicting several men exiting a vehicle on a bridge near Bracebridge and shooting long guns into the air. Ontario Provincial Police labeled this behavior as “careless and unsafe.” Court proceedings revealed that on February 3, 2025, officers responded to a report in Georgian Bay Township, where they discovered a Jeep stuck on Crown land. Singh was identified as the driver, and firearms were found inside the vehicle. Investigators later accessed footage from an Instagram account associated with Singh. The court heard that these videos showed him recklessly using multiple firearms and firing shots from within the same vehicle. During the hearings, it was disclosed that Singh had acquired a Possession and Acquisition Licence (PAL) while residing in Canada under a work permit. Justice Edward Carleton questioned why Singh sought out this firearms licence and purchased guns. Defense counsel explained that Singh was not a hunter and characterized his actions as a “foolish decision.” The Crown proposed that Singh should face a $1,000 fine and forfeit his firearm, while the defense requested an absolute discharge. Justice Carleton called for a pre-sentence report before determining punishment. The case is set to return to court later this month for sentencing. Earlier, police charged Singh, who lives in Brampton, with two counts of careless use of a firearm. Authorities also confiscated his firearms and suspended his firearms licence during the investigation.
