A resident of Perth is now facing charges related to child exploitation after an inquiry by the Ontario Provincial Police Child Sexual Exploitation Unit.
According to police, officers carried out a search warrant at a home in Perth on May 13th, with help from the Lanark County OPP and the OPP Digital Forensics Unit. Multiple electronic devices were taken into custody.
As a result of this investigation, 42-year-old Brendan Kelly from Perth has been charged with two counts of possession of child sexual abuse and exploitation material, along with one count of making such material available.
Kelly was granted release after a bail hearing and is set to appear in court in Perth on June 15th.
The OPP stated that they will continue to target those who exploit children using technology and encourages parents to teach their kids about online safety through resources like Cybertip and Protect Children.
