A tragic multi-vehicle accident involving two SUVs, a transport truck, and a cargo van resulted in one fatality on Friday afternoon, according to police reports.
Ontario Provincial Police confirmed that the driver of the cargo van, a 64-year-old from Norfolk County, was declared dead at the scene shortly after the crash occurred around 3 p. m. on Highway 24 near Simcoe.
One SUV driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital, while the other SUV driver and the transport truck operator were unharmed, as stated in a news release late Friday.
Police indicated that Highway 24, between Windham Road 12 and Thirteenth Street West, as well as Concession 13 Townsend from Highway 24 to Cloet Road, would likely remain closed for several hours into Friday evening.
The Norfolk County OPP has not disclosed further information about the victim or potential causes of this fatal incident as their investigation is ongoing.
